This is both the heartland of the Costa Rican sport fishing industry, and a beautiful paddleboard experience. June through November, this beach is also home to a large left hand wave that’s great for experienced surfers.

Carara boasts a massive amount of primary-growth rainforest, and is home to stunning biodiversity. Situated along the Tarcoles River, it is home to ancient archaeological sites and arguably the best birdwatching in the entire country. You can walk the park’s three hikes in about 1 hour 45 minutes, and there are plenty of guide signs, benches, and shade along Carara’s trails.
cruise to tortuga island
We partner with a catamaran cruise out of Herradura to send guests to Isla Tortuga. This cruise is a full-day experience traveling across the mouth of the Gulf of Nicoya, snorkeling among local reefs, and swimming pristine white-sand beaches. Light breakfast is provided on the boat, and a full meal and drinks on the island.
