  • Unfortunately, we only offer our all-inclusive program.

  • We are happy to arrange for additional excursions, private tours, additional massages or spa treatments for an additional fee.  We don’t include alcoholic beverages in package price, however we are happy to arrange for your preferred alcoholic beverages to be pre-stocked in personal in-room refrigerator and have alcoholic beverages for sale for a modest price during meals.  Please let us know in advance your preferred beverages so we can do our best to make sure they are available. 

  • We typically prefer that all arrivals and departures occur on Saturdays, however we will do our best to accommodate you based upon our availability if your schedule requires you to arrive or depart on a different day of the week.

  • We will do our best to be as flexible as possible and accommodate early arrivals and late departures, depending upon our availability.  Please contact us as early as you can with your flight schedule.

  • Absolutely!  We love kids of all ages, because we are all kids at heart.  Children 4 years old and younger are complimentary when they stay in their parents room, and children 5 and over have access to our full-program at the same rate as adults.

  • Visa, Mastercard, and American Express

  • Unfortunately, not.  Due to the nature of program, we meet everyone upon arrival to review the exciting program with you and find-out if you have any special requirements.

  • No, US dollars are accepted at Surf Synergy and most places locally.  However, there are several reliable ATM’s in the local town of Jaco and you can retrieve local currency there for tipping and shopping. 

  • Yes.  We have electronic safes in all of our guest rooms.

  • We are a smoke-free property, however there are several places locally where smoking is allowed.

  • Gratuities are most welcome by our team, and can be collected at the end of your stay where we will assure they are appropriately and equally distributed to our team.  Many times guests will use 10% of their package rate as a typical benchmark for determining how much gratuity to leave.

  • Yes, the town of Jaco has very good medical services and readily available.  Should something more serious arise we will certainly arrange for immediate transportation to San Jose. 

  • Yes.  We really love our furry four-legged friends!  We have several mascots on property, include two adorable dogs, and a few feline friends who call Surf Synergy home.

  • Yes, we can arrange for baby-sitting services with prior notification for an additional fee.

Transportation and Location

  • We are located on the Central Pacific Coast, just outside of Jaco.  We have beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean from every room on our property, and easy access to the town of Jaco, the notorious Hermosa Beach and Playa Herradura which are just a few minutes away.  We are approximately 90 minutes from the San Jose Airport.

  • The closest airport is the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose. We provide complimentary door-to-door transfers from the San Jose Airport to Surf Synergy.

    The trip takes approximately 90 minutes.

    From touchdown to takeoff we are there to support you and ensure your journey to Costa Rica is an exceptional experience.

    With plenty of group activities and family-style dining as well as private bungalows to busier group settings you can choose whether it’s a day packed full of people or if you prefer more quiet time on your own.

About Surfing & SUP

  • We have one-on-one coaching and have always succeeded in getting someone surfing regardless of age or fitness level. Surfing is a life changing experience for anyone that experiences it.

    Our goal is to get you on a surfboard to experience this change. We have 100% success rate.

  • Costa Rica offers the safest surf beach in the world with nothing but sand on the bottom you don’t need to worry about reefs, rocks or any other obstructions. The waters are 82 degrees year round.

    You will have access and transport to six different surf areas.

    We take care of transportation to and from surf beaches, water, a warm shower, sunscreen, rashers and a light fruit snack after each surf excursion!

  • Each person is assigned their own personal dedicated surf instructor at Surf Synergy.

    We video your surf experience, so each day, we can show you little tweaks you can do to improve your surfing.

  • We are confident you will be surfing on your first day.

    For beginners, we introduce you to the basics of surfing and provide the necessary equipment, including sunscreen and rash guards .

    All you need to do is bring your bathing suit!


  • We provide all of the necessary surf equipment and beyond including a surf board suited to your level or surfing, rash guards, sunscreen, water, showers and a light snack afterward.

    The only thing you need to bring is your favorite well fitting bathing suit, beach shoes and motivation.

  • We have a dedicated in-house team of talented photographers and videographers that capture your time on the water so that our coaches can review surf training and provide you with valuable feedback to make the next day even more successful.  It is an important coaching tools to help you improve your skills on the water and learn new techniques. 

  • Our all-inclusive package rate allows non-surfers the flexibility of replacing surf or SUP coaching with additional wellness services such as massage and body treatments or excursions and adventures from our menu.  Non-surfers find that there is plenty to do, and we are happy to create a custom schedule based upon your preferences. 

  • We do have some degree of flexibility but overall, each week’s schedule is dictated by the tides that change with the moon and weather.  We select the optimum time to be on the water based upon these tides, and develop a schedule for training, recovery and relaxation based upon when we know it’s an ideal time to learn and enjoy the waves.

Accommodations

  • We have 14 rooms.  There are 6 bungalows that are comprised of 3 buildings, each with two adjacent bungalows sharing a deck.  Our new Casa Cielo is an 8 bedroom villa with guest rooms that can be reserved individually or collectively.  The Casa Cielo villa is comprised of 2 king rooms, 2 double queen rooms, 2 penthouse suites and 2 bunkrooms, one bunkroom has 4 queen beds, and the adjacent bunkroom has 2 queen beds.

  • Yes, please select your preferred room and the number of guests with their names when you book online. 

  • We have rooms with king beds, queen beds and twin beds. Our bungalows can accommodate a king bed or 2 or 3 twin beds.

  • Yes, our bungalows have large decks with hammocks and our Casa Cielo rooms each have large balconies with comfortable seating.

  • We like to think of Surf Synergy as a “digital-free” zone, so we don’t offer televisions in our guest rooms.  However, we have a large screen television in the Casa Cielo game room and the den, and on our Shaka House patio if you would like a movie night or to watch sports.

  • Of course!  Surf Synergy is the perfect destination for solo travelers, with programs that are designed to respect your privacy, or connect you to our other guests should you choose.  You will feel right at home, our team is known for making everyone feel like part of the family.

  • Yes, we have specially designed guest rooms that are accessible for wheelchairs.

  • No, we have a 110 volt outlets which are the same as in the U.S.

  • Yes, we are an amazing retreat for groups ranging from 4 to 40 guests.  It’s the perfect destination for friends and family to gather, connect and have the time of their lives. 

The Dining Experience

  • The meals are beyond fresh, with much of the food sourced on-site as Surf Synergy. You will experience various healthy options, from root vegetables, to delicious lean proteins such as locally sourced fish, chicken and meat as well as homemade breads and desert worth saving room for.

    We happily accommodate any dietary needs, whether they be vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or paleo. Fresh fruit is plentiful.

    We also provide various juices and healthy teas. Each meal is carefully prepared by our chef and ready for you.

    Get ready for a truly exceptional eating experience… you won’t want to wait until your next meal. The food is truly wonderful and all part of the integrated wellness experience.

  • We serve three meals daily, and some can be served in the Shaka House, the dining room at Casa Cielo or on one of many glorious patios with beautiful views of the Pacific. 

  • Yes, please let us know your preferences prior to your arrival. While we don’t have a full-service bar on our property, our team is happy to provide you with whatever your drink of choice might be.  Please be aware that not every alcoholic beverage available in the US is available in Costa Rica, but we will do our best to find a substitute if we are unable to purchase it locally.

    Alcoholic beverages are not included in your package rate, however we will happily pre-stock your guest room with a liquor of your choice at a nominal fee.  We can also service reasonable priced beer and wine and a limited selection of cocktails by the glass in the Shaka House, by the pool or in Casa Cielo. 

  • We would prefer for you to let us know the beverages you prefer in advance of your stay and we will do our best to source them locally. 

  • Our extensive grounds feature a cornucopia of native flora and fauna that attract so many of the stunning birds and wildlife for which Costa Rica is renowned.  We also have a very prolific groove of mango trees, as well as other fruit bearing trees, such as starfruit, banana, and nut trees. Our gardens grow many of the vegetables and herbs you will enjoy in your meals.  We even have our own chicken coop that brings us the freshest eggs possible each and every morning. 

    Our sustainability efforts extend throughout the lifecycle, by utilizing a bio composter for organic waste and generating gas for our stoves, careful management of our water resources, and natural gardening practices that nurture the land.

  • Yes, we have a training and relaxation pool next to our Shaka House and Training Deck, and another stunning infinity-edge pool and hot tub at Casa Cielo overlooking the Pacific Ocean. 

  • Yes, we have complimentary bicycles for guests’ use for rides into town are in the surrounding area. 

  • We provide complimentary use of a guest washer and dryer.

  • Yes we have fast and dependable WiFi service available throughout the resort.

  • We provide the highest quality artisanal spring water available to enjoy.

  • Yes, the town of Jaco is just minutes away where you will find several shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars and services.
